Hope everyone likes the new look. I was getting tired of the old one, plus I'm really bored at work! That's what I get for being efficient and getting all my projects done.
Only FOUR more weeks to go! That sounds like such a short time, and yet I feel like it will never come! I go in for my weekly appointment tomorrow....I'm hoping to find out if I'm dilating at all. I have been experiencing some pretty good Braxton-Hicks...so maybe there will be some progress. All I know is the second my leave starts, I'm going to walk my little tush off, eat some pineapple, drink some raspberry tea and do anything else known to bring on labor. Of course, my luck I'll just end up with sore legs, ulcers in my mouth and relieving my bladder every 30 minutes from all the tea. ;)!
I'm taking a breast-feeding class tonight at the hospital. I have to say this is the experience I'm most looking forward to when Kayleigh is born. I really hope I'm able to feed her shortly after she's born. I just can't imagine what that will be like! Oh, and our childbirth classes are this weekend and then we'll be done with all of that! Whew! I'm just glad she's going to let us attend them! I have this feeling she's not going to wait much longer to make her appearance. Then again...that could just be because I'm kinda tired of being pregnant and super anxious to hold her.
Well I best get back to conjuring up some work to do!

I love the new look, is this part of their updated version?
You forgot one of the most famous triggers for labor: Castor oil...yuck, but for some it works. However, when you get right down to it, research has shown that there is something directly linked to lung development and the onset of labor. It's amazing how God created babies development in-utero and allows that development to send the message to the body when it is the right time. She'll get here before you know it! Everyone in my classes know that I am counting down the days for her arrival. Of course, they can't believe I'm old enough to be a Grandmother, especially when I tell them Kayleigh will be number three. I can hardly wait for her to get here! Get lots of rest, love you!
When I was 36 weeks pregnant with the twins, (I had assurance from the dr. that they were ready) I went to Grapevine Mills Mall and walked (or should I say waddled?) the full circle. I think that is 1 mile. Then, I went and had pedicure (They were gentle - you have to be careful with pedicures because they can really get contractions going). For dinner, we went to Steak n' Shake and I had a bowl of chili. Finally, we went back to the mall and walked some more. By 10:00 that night, I was at the hospital! I did end up regretting the chili!! Good luck!!
Tracy knows this barbecue sauce that seems to do the induction of labor...of course, she had it on Labor Day, so maybe the two went together in some strange way.
Love the new skin, too!
Michelle, Brenda is right: it's the baby who initiates the labor. You can do whatever you want, but when it comes down to it, SHE's the one who has to initiate the hormone surge to get things started ;-). If you get to be OVERDUE and want some suggestions for some herbs that will help give her the jump start she needs, let me know. We midwives have some pretty good tricks up our sleeves, and they're way more gentle than pitocin or castor oil (be careful with that castor oil as it is linked with meconium stained amniotic fluid, which can result in way more interventions than you want).
Blessings,
Charlotte
