FYI on the rice sometimes I use beans in the same way and mix 2 or 3 types together. Its a little more expensive than rice but it works the same and for those who are still in the "sorting" phase it works really well. I have to say the rice table is one of my favorite activities with kids. We used to also put it in a shallow pan and learn how to draw with our fingers.
http://www.brainpop.com/ Check out this website for home school lessons and activities. You can get a trial subscription, otherwise there is a fee. If my school district will agree to pay for it, I could use it in several content areas for FCS.
I'll keep sending you useful websites I think you might be interested to use for home school
